Many people feel that self love is taking yourself to the nail salon or the dress shop to buy a new outfit. While that is very true, self love is more than just getting your hair done, buying a new outfit or cleaning your house. Self love is making sure that you have your shit together PERIOD. Are you staying on top of your bills? Have you worked on those goals that you wanted to complete? Weren't you thinking about going back to school? Did you sit down and write out that business plan ?
According to dictionary.com, self-love is defined as " the instinct by which one's actions are directed to the promotion of one's own welfare or well-being, especially an excessive regard for one's own advantage." In my humble opinion, that means taking care of ALL aspects of your livelihood and welfare. As a person who is not a fan of procrastination,I feel that when it comes to loving yourself it means stepping out of your comfort zone, being aware when you're slacking & placing SOME pressure on your damn self!
So what's stopping your from starting that business or developing strategies for that non-profit organization ? I got tired of saying "this is my year" but then falling back into the same patterns that make "this year" the same as last year. Turn your hardship into something that is your true passion. I find that during the toughest times in my life I become the most creative. I turn my pain into devotion and submerge myself fiercely into passion projects. Stop telling yourself what you can not do. Negative self talk is a toxic dream killer which hinders your self-esteem. Its something that I also struggle with because I am SUPER hard on myself. I spend so much time focusing on the things I want to improve and work toward. I have to stop and remind myself that I am doing the best I can and its okay to celebrate small victories.
Celebrating those small victories is vital! If you're a person trying to lose weight this can be a challenging time. Its true that dealing with self esteem, body image and not meeting your goals can be frustrating. Just know that you have to be thankful for meeting short term goals and that its okay if you make a mistake! Love yourself! Celebrate yourself! Be nice to yourself! After all, the words you speak become the house you live in.
Peace & Blessings!
